Retreat - Choosing during the cane swap and admiring gifts from the gift exchange.
Retreat 2020 - We had a great time at the Hilton Garden Inn. The projects included Totems, Ornaments and Decorated Shot glasses which we needed for the Peanut Butter Whiskey. Roberta ran the video demo which was Bead shapes by Tori Hughes. Even though it was an old video we all picked up a few new or forgotten tips. We had raffles, door prizes, cane swaps and gift exchanges.

Shelley Atwood Workshop - Two fun days with texture and carving
Feb 2020 - Bead making day for Beads of Courage. We made 69 milestone beads. Show and tell included the finished mosaic projects from last month.
Jan 2020 - Fun clay day/mini retreat. The project was mosaics using polymer clay.
Dec 2019 - Christmas party - Fun, food, gift exchange, Polymer ornament exchange, raffle prizes.
Nov 2019 - Meeting - Kathy got us ready for Christmas with her demo of a snowman ornament.
Oct 2019 - Meeting - Judy showed us how she sculpts her wonderful figures.
September 2019 Meeting - Show and Tell included items from the retreat and Day of the Dead. Julie demonstrated how to make a bowl using resin and alcohol inks.
Roberta's demo at Retreat - A braided cane. This cane can be sliced on any side to get a different look.
Nina's demo at Retreat - A cane with insertions. The insertions are a Skinner blend wrapped in black then put through an extruder. They are rolled into a Skinner blend that is stacked on top of a white and black sheet. Nina was so generous to donate the finished cane pieces for a raffle.

August 2019 Meeting - Jodie brought in her collection of polymer art made by herself, friends and other artists. She showed us the different styles, finishing techniques and branding.
June 2019 Meeting - Some wonderful items for show and tell, including Kathy M.'s heart (complete with valves and veins) box. The raffle included another small item to cover for a challenge piece. Jodie demonstrated how to blow out an egg and then cover it with clay.
May 2019 Meeting - The raffle included some handmade wood items for use with polymer clay and wonderful pendants by several artists. Retreat date options were discussed and voted on, see News and Events for more info on the retreat. Mary B showed us Jan Montarsi's quilt template technique.
April 2019 Meeting - We had a lot of great Show and Tell. There were Easter goodies in the raffle, a green clay contest and the demo by Kathy of Mosaics. The meeting included discussion about our 2019 retreat and possibly changing the location and dates.
March 2019 Meeting - Chris demonstrated working with Shrinky Dink. We made components for necklaces or pendants.
February 2019 Meeting with a demo of resin techniques by Chris and Kristy. Show and tell includes the finished items from Julie Picarello's class.

December 2018 - Christmas Party
Our Christmas Party included a gift exchange, handmade ornament exchange, yummy appetizers and desserts, raffle, and a visit from a cute elf! There were wonderful items for show and tell and the meeting included the vote for 2019 Officers. Thanks to everyone that volunteers to make our guild great.

We exchanged gifts, won lots of nice items in the raffle, enjoyed good food and desserts, had fun and celebrated Christmas!! We even had two mini Christmas Trees in the form of decorated pineapples! The Show & Tell and silent auction featured outstanding pieces! |

June 24-25, 2017 -- Deb Hart two-day Turtle Class
Eleven members took advantage of visiting artist, Deb Hart's, Turtle Box Class. Making canes, building a closed box structure and decorating it to look like a very stylish Turtle was the name of the game during this two-day class.

September Meeting - Some great show and tell from the annual retreat included covered bowls, textured vessels and goddess pins. Kathy gave a demo on Sutton Slice.
Randee Ketzel Workshop - Faux Bronze and Opal Pendants and Faux Bone Hairpins
June Meeting - We had a smaller turnout for our June meeting, maybe due to a predicted high of 120 degrees! Instead of our usual demo we all brought a couple of our favorite tools to talk about. Get ready for a cane swap for the August meeting, just in time for the retreat.
May meeting - Even though the snowbirds have gone home we are still getting a good turnout for the meetings. Kristy brought cigar boxes for us to decorate! Elaine showed us two techniques for Mokume Gane, one using the Lucy Clay Xtruder. Check the resources page for more info on the technique and where to buy the texture plates.
April meeting - Great raffle items again! A good variety in our show and tell pieces. Kat shows her landscape technique. Never let your scrap clay go to waste - make a landscape!
March meeting - Kristy got some nice cigar boxes for the raffle, hopefully we will see them decorated at the next meeting. Steve showed us how he uses die cuts to make pendants.
The guild participated in the Southwest Makers Fest in Mesa. We demonstrated bead making, canes, Sutton Slice and other polymer techniques. We also had a few items for sale. It was a good event to show the community what polymer clay is about and how we use it.
Meg Newberg taught us the Shibori cane in our February Workshop. She also showed us some other fun techniques, a leaf cane using similiar technique as the Shibori and also some other ways to blend. She experiments with canes daily and publishes Cane Builder Subscription on a monthly basis.
February Meeting - We had some great show and tell pieces at the meeting. Thanks to Cindy P. for organizing the raffle in Kristy's absence. Kathleen showed us how to use the Embellish Knit with various yarns. These can be used as cords for necklaces.

We made some "lookat blends" - smoosh, tear, put back together, run it through the pasta machine and "look at" that wonderful mix! The collage piece was mainly flat but layered to give it the look of paper layers. Assemblage included more texture, sculpting and other media - beads, stones and cabachons. The Impasto was a painting technique of layering and blending.

January 2016 - We have a new slate of officers and a great demo to start out the new year. Kristy organized our raffle. Lupe gave the demo, showing us how to stencil on clay. We are looking forward to Christi Friesen's class in two weeks. There are a couple seats available and non-members may sign up.
December Christmas Party - We had a brief meeting to elect officers for 2016 and then the fun began. Santa and his helpers arrived to pass out candy canes and do a fun cancan dance. Our guild members are great cooks and we had a yummy feast, followed by a gift exchange, ornament exchange and a wonderful raffle. The silent auction had some beautiful pieces that were donated by members.
November Meeting - Great show and tell. As I say every month, Tricia put together some great raffle prizes. Thanks to all of the members who contribute to the raffle and to Tricia for organizing. There was no demo at this meeting. We worked on Christmas ornaments in preparation for the ornament exchange at our December Party.
October Meeting - Lots of show and tell today. The 2016 Polymer Clay Adventure (a virtual retreat) is now open for sign-ups. We have 2 members teaching this year - Marlene Brady and Syndee Holt. See the News and Events page for a link to the site. Kathy and Judy did a demo on pod people.
The 11th Annual Retreat in Prescott
We had an awesome retreat this year. The demos were wonderful, the goodie bags and gift draw were full of great supplies and handcrafted items, and everyone created, shared and laughed. Oh, and there was some late night singing too.

Retreat Demo - Covering Silverware Handles by Susan
Rainbow Mask Retreat Project - Led by Jennifer, eleven members participated in this project. Each member was assigned a color and made a cane to share. We swapped the canes and then everyone went wild. Such a great variety of masks.

Using Pebeo paints - Retreat Demo by Julie. You can layer the paints in a baked polymer bezel or use a metal bezel.
Syndee's Retreat demo - Using a Gelli plate and transfers on clay and a layered dot pendant.
The Buna Cord challenge by Kat. Kat took a fun class with Donna Kato at Clay Carnival that used Buna Cord. Kat challenged us to come up with our own ideas to use the Buna Cord.
Syndee's 2nd demo - Creating a mosaic pendant using the new Premo colors; Opal, Rose gold glitter, White gold glitter and Yellow gold glitter.
Retreat Demo - Sutton Slice by Kathy C. A very interesting 3D effect using texture sheets or deep rubber stamps.

September Meeting - Members are getting ready to go to the retreat so Tricia made up some great raffle prizes in time to take to camp. Cindy did a demo on bandana beads, a striped translucent and white cane to decorate any color bead. Kat finished the inchie mirror which will be raffled at the retreat. Great show and tell today!
August meeting - Play day today! We had the inchie swap, and many brought their inchies for Kat to decorate a mirror which will be raffled off at the September meeting. The raffle included all gorgeous handmade items. Kat attended Clay Carnival in Las Vegas and returned with donations from Donna Kato for future raffles. The extruder order from LCtools arrived and everyone was excited about the new Czextruders and slicing tools.
July meeting - Show and tell included the finished pieces from the Kato and Blackford workshops. Tricia put together some great raffle prizes. We had a wonderful extruder demo by Jodie, Lupe and Elaine.
Donna Kato Workshop - Fishy Pins . We learned several techniques in Donna's class: lopsided circle cane for eyes, carving in the raw, and color replacement
Leslie Blackford Workshop - Carnie Train - Wow! So much fun. Leslie's figures have a story and we were challenged to come up with a story/memory and create a figure for it.
June Meeting - We had a small group this month, but no shortage on the show and tell. Our raffle included some of the canes from Meg Newberg. Thanks to Christi Friesen for giving Kat permission to teach her Tropical Bird design.
May Meeting - Christy Puetz from Beads of Courage spoke at our meeting. Members donated 389 handmade polymer beads to the program. Lupe and Bonnie gave a demo on bead making, inspiring us all to make even more beads for the program. This month's raffle included a special prize eligible to those members who remembered to wear their name tag. Congratulations to Elaine on winning the autographed book by Christi Friesen.
April Meeting - Great show and tell. Thanks Marlene for bringing in your inchies as we get ready for an inchie swap. Tricia put together some great raffle prizes. Great new name tags - Yea! I love it when everyone remembers to wear them. Diana gave a great demo on 2 part epoxy to make wonderful jewelry. See the resources page for her info on supplies.
Happy Easter! Meg Newberg taught this workshop just in time for Easter. Several canes were created to cover hollow eggs. Everyone enjoyed this workshop and we hope to have Meg back again soon.

Prescott Retreat - September 2014
Retreat - Marlene shows us the Faux Mexican Embroidery technique.
Michele showed us how to make scrap circles for a bracelet. We had a swap with 7 people in each group to share our pieces. The finished pieces turned out great!
Jennifer demonstrated making a bangle bracelet form to be used for the round robin project. There were 4 members in each group, and each person took a turn decorating the bracelets in their group. Wonderful ideas and workmanship.
Syndee's demo was full of information. She showed us some great tools and techniques including inks, paints, the Gelli plate and mokume gane. Then we all had fun trying the new Silkscreen product from Sculpey.
Kat's Warrior Women demo. A great mixed media project. Syndee calls it 'Project Runway' as we dress up our dolls in style.
